Surface Mount and Thru-Hole PCB Assembly
About Surface Mount and Thru-Hole PCB Assembly
TEK Industries offers both Surface Mount (SMT) and Thru-Hole PCB Assembly services. Surface Mount Assembly uses solder to mount components or devices to printed circuit boards. Thru-hole (THT) has component leads which are manually fed through drilled holes. Your project requirements would best determine which of these assembly technologies or a combination of both would be ideal. SMT is used for smaller PCB assembly where component density and limited surface board area is key. Although the holes drilled for THT may increase the overall PCB cost, there is still the need for this type of assembly when testing and prototyping or mechanical bonding and high mechanical stress resistance is required.
