Multilayer Printed Circuit Board
What is a multilayer printed circuit board?
Printed Circuit Boards or PCBs are made up of copper layers and fiberglass. A basic board is 2-layers, but it is not uncommon to see 4-layer boards too. As a board becomes more complex, the layers will increase. At TEK Industries, we understand the challenges and benefits of a multilayer printed circuit board and we have experience in designing, assembly, and testing multilayer PCBs. We have even worked with a 20 layer board!
What are some applications for multilayer circuit boards?
Everything and anything. Let’s take one of the most common uses of a multilayer printed circuit board – your cell phone – it has a clock, a calendar, a phone, a camera, WiFi and Bluetooth connections, internal functions (like a calculator) – it’s main processor is the Intel Core i7 – which has 1356 pins coming out of it. Every pin is a message and needs a track running through the board. So, that one chip will have 1356 tracks running to other end points. And, that is only 1 part on the board. Each part needs to connect from here to there with a track.
